AB  - Konforlu olma doğumdan itibaren aranan bir durum veulaşılmak istenen bir hedeftir. Bebek kucağa alındığında, dizi yaralanan birçocuğun öpüldüğünde ağlamasını kesmesi, yaşlı bir bireyin eline dokunulduğunda/sessizce yanında oturulduğunda rahatladığını ifade etmesi birer örnektir. Yaşam boyunca anlamlı bir ihtiyaç olarak var olan konfor hemşirelikteyeni bir kavram değildir, temel bir gereksinimdir. Yaşlanma, fiziksel,psikolojik, sosyal ve ekonomik yönden yaşlı bireylerin tüm hayatını etkileyenbir durumdur. Fiziksel, psikosprituel,sosyokültürel ve çevresel tüm faktörleri bütüncül olarak ele alan konforkuramına göre verilen hemşirelik bakımının hedefi yaşlı bireyler için konforgereksinimlerinin karşılanmasıdır. Konforkuramının temel öğeleri yaşlı bireyde konforun sağlanmasına yönelik hemşirelikgirişimlerinin kavramsallaştırılmasına da temel oluşturur. Yaşlıbireylerin gereksinimlerinin tanımlanması ve karşılanamayan gereksinimlerineyönelik uygun hemşirelik girişimlerini planlayarak uygulaması ve değerlendirilmesihemşirenin temel hemşirelik bakımı arasında yer almalıdır. Hemşire yaşlı bireyde konforu doğru olaraktanımlamalı, ağrılı durumlarda da, dinlenme sırasında da, evde, huzurevinde yada hastanedeki koşullarda iç ve dış çevrede konforu sağlamalıdır. Bu anlamda teröpatik sonuçlarla yaşlıbireylerin cesaretlendirilmesi, güçlendirilmesi, desteklenmesi, fiziksel olarakrahatlatılması ile zihinsel konforun sağlanması kolaylaşır. Rahat,sıkıntısız, konforlu yaşlı daha çabuk iyileşecek, hastalık stresi ile daha iyibaş ederek, daha iyi rehabilite olacak veya daha huzurlu ölecektir.

N2  - Being comfortable is something desired from birth onward and a goal to beachieved. A baby’s or a child’s stoppingcrying when taken on the lap or kissed when he/she hurts his/her knee, or an elderly person's expressing his/herrelaxation when his/her hand is touched or when someone else sits next to himare examples of being comfortable. Comfort, a significant need throughout life,is not a new concept in nursing; it is a basic requirement. Agingis a condition affecting the whole life of the elderly physically,psychologically,socially and economically.According to the comfort theory which deals with allthe physical, psycho-spiritual, sociocultural and environmental factorsholistically, the aim of the nursing care is to meet the comfort requirementsof the elderly. The basic elements of comforttheory form the basis for the conceptualization of nursing interventions aimingto provide comfort for the elderly. Identifying the needs of the elderly and planning andimplementing appropriate nursing interventions to meet the elderly’s unmet needsshould be among nursing cares a nurse is expected to provide. The nurse should identify the concept of comfortcorrectly in an older person and provide comfort both in the indoor or outdoorenvironment when the older person has pain, is at rest, and is at home, in anursing home or in the hospital, or. In this sense, encouraging, strengtheningand supporting of the elderly individuals, which brings about therapeuticresults makes the provision of mental comfort easier. An elderlyperson who is relaxed, trouble-free and comfortable will recover faster, willbe better rehabilitated or will pass away in a more peaceful atmosphere ifhe/she is able to better deal with the stress caused by the disease.
