N2  - intihar vakalarına ilişkin veriler 1962 yılından itibaren tüm Türkiye bazında Jandarma ve emniyet teşkilatları yetkililerinin doldurduğu "İntihar İstatistik Formu" aracılığı ile toplanmaktadır. Elde edilen sonuçlar her yıl derlenip yıllık olarak yayınlanmaktadır. Bu yazıda 1974-1996 yılları arasında 65 yaş ve üstü grupta intihar sebepleri, yöntemleri, yaş, cinsiyet özellikleri açısından değerlendirilerek daha önce yapılmış diğer çalışmalar ile karşılaştırılmıştır.  Sonuç olarak toplumda ortalama yaşın artması, hızlı sosyal ve ekonomik değişimler, göç ve diğer sosyal stresörlere paralel olarak yaşlı intiharları sayısında artma görülmektedir
