(common ragweed) is placed among the worst invasive species of the Europe, and is rapidly invading Turkey as well. The current study was aimed to map the current invasion status of A. artemisiifolia in the Black Sea region. For this purpose, the Black Sea region (Sinop to Hopa/Artvin; almost 650 km distance) was surveyed. During the surveys, the stop was made after each 10 km and area was searched for plant presence/absence. Total of 107 points were surveyed and data regarding GPS coordinates, altitude, soil properties, accompanying vegetation, ecological attributes and plant density and plant coverage area were recorded. A. artemisiifolia invasion was observed in numerous habitats (01000 km altitude) including roadsides, vacant and waste lands, stream and river banks and sea sides, agricultural and forest sides and abandoned lands etc. According to the field observations ; the plant has made transition to agricultural areas and started creating problems in agricultural areas. It is concluded from the surveys that the plant will create severe problems for human health (pollens are allergenic) and as well as for agriculture (severe competitor with soybean, maize and sunflower etc.) in future. The plant has already been established in the Black Sea region therefore, development of suitable management strategies is the dire need of the time UR - https://dergipark.org.tr/tr/pub/tjws/issue//508234 L1 - https://dergipark.org.tr/tr/download/article-file/618920 ER -
