N2  - In this study, the lapse of time in insurance contracts related to extra payments made, according to Turkish Commercial Code Art 1268, will be examined in comparison with similar, provisions of the Draft for the Turkish Commercial Code, as well as German and Switzerland laws. First, the purpose of the short lapse of time set in order in insurance law will be explained. Then, the applicability of the provisions in the Turkish Obligations Code to insurance contracts and the beginning of the lapse of time will be discussed
