The main parameters of this new era may be stated as: an increasing dependence on the US; the further demonisation of Iran and its regional allies; greater efforts to normalise political relations with Israel; the establishment of closer cooperation with the UAE and Egypt; and the promoting of Madkhali Salafism in the Middle East. Riyadh’s emergence as a new power centre significantly relies on regional and international power politics. In this respect, the geopolitical dimension of Middle Eastern politics plays a crucial role in examining the Saudi position.
