N2  - Pneumothorax is the common and life threatening problem of thoracic surgery, needs urgent intervention. It is commonly treated tube thora-costomy and other less invasive interventions. Surgical operation may be undervent elective patients. The patients who were operated for spontaneous pneumothorax between June 2005 and December 2006, included in this study. The patients were evaluated according to clinical characteristics, indications, surgical procedures and results, retrospectively. There is concordance with the result of axillary thoracotomy and other surgical procedures. Axillary thoracotomy may be preferred because of its cost effectiveness and less recurrence rates.
