KW - Gelir Dağılımı Yakınsaması KW - Sıralı Panel Seçim Yöntemi KW - Panel KSS Birim Kök Analizi N2 - This study is to investigate whether income inequality in nine Centraland Eastern European (CEE) countries are converging or divergingusing the nonlinear panel unit root testsSequentialPanel Selection Method (SPSM)over theperiod 1989 to 2015. Weused the SPSM procedure that proposed byChortareas and Kapetanios (2009) usingPanelKSS unit root test (developed by Ucar and Omay (2009))with aFourier function in this paper. The SPSM is a competent method which controlsfor structural breaks, nonlinearity, heterogeneity and cross-sectiondependency. The empirical analysis of conventional unit root tests shows thatincome inequality is stationary or convergence for CEE countries. On the otherhand, the empirical results from the SPSM also point out that the incomedistribution convergence holds true for nine CEE countries in the period of1989 to 2015. The results show that income inequality converges even if controlis provided for structural breaks, non-linearity, heterogeneity and cross-sectionaldependence. Countries converge to a common level of income inequality. Ourfindings have some significant policy implications for macroeconomic policy, modelling and forecasting for these CEE countries.
