The foundation of any true neo-liberal state is the notion of a nomocracy. There can be no teleos, no higher visions which individuals must subordinate their interests and desires to. Plant argues that any notion of social justice is incompatible with a true neo-liberal state. Social justice actually violates an individual’s rights because it forces certain individuals to give up certain resources. The most relevant point here is taxation. Taxation is coercive because it redistributes individual earnings usually for causes of social justice.
