Optimal timefor surgical ligation of PDA in extremely-low-birth-weight premature infants remains controversial.Herein, we report 3 patients who had intestinal, renal, and pulmonary complications due to severe PDA. One patient’s ductus was refractory to medical treatment while the remaining2 patients could not receive medical treatment because of contraindications. We suggest that early surgical ligation should be considered in extremely-low-birth-weight premature infants with PDA refractory to medical treatment or in those who have contraindications for medical treatment}, number={4}, publisher={T.C.
