It isfound between left atrium and left vetricul. Chordaetendineae are that of preventing the aversion of the freemargin of the leaflet into the cavity of the left atriumduring ventriculer systole and they are fibroustendinous, going from the top of the papillary musclesto insert to ventriculer aspect of leaflets In this study, the morphology of the chordae tendineae and thepapillary muscles were investigated in 24 cadaversheart exist in anatomy labarataory. Chordae tendineaewas classifed according to inserting into leaflets andcommissures. The chordae of the posterior leaflet weretermed rough, cleft and basal chordae while thechordae of the anterior leaflet were termed rough andstrut chordae. The average chordae tendineae insertinginto the anterior leaflet were found the rough 27,3±9,8and the strut 1,6±0,5. The basal chordae of theanterior leaflet, which is not reported in literature, were found in 5 hearts. The average chordae tendineaenumber inserting into the posterior leaflet were foundthe rough 32,6±10,3, the cleft 8,4±4,3 and the basal8,0±2,2. Anterior papillary muscle usually consist of asingle major muscle group, whereas the posteriorpapillary muscle often consists of two major musclegroups. Chordae tendineae number arisine from thetips of the anterior papillary muscle was determined tobe 13 on average, chordae tendineae number arisingfrom the tips of the posterior papillary muscle wasdetermined to be 15 on average. As a result, theevidences found about the fonksiyonel anatomy andmorphology dissociation of the chordae areconsidered significant information on the surgery ofmitral valve and subvalve constructions CR - Tandler J.
