AB  - The major purpose of this paper is toillustrate the theory, practice, and outcome of Bowen’s Family Systems Theory. MurrayBowen is a founder of the family systems theory and one of the pioneers infamily therapy. Bowen definedthe term “differentiation ofself”asa capacityto gain a balance between emotional andintellectual functioning without fusion. Bowen established this term in lightof the family system theory and he believed self-differentiation is closelyrelated to an individual’s family life. With this term, Bowen addressedemotional maturity and maintaining independent thinking during emotionalrelationships. Bowen Theory hasgreatly influenced the world of family therapy and also studies demonstrated itseffectiveness on individual therapy work. This article involves emphasizing theformulation of Bowen theory and application to a case example of an individualwho struggles with differentiation. First, this paper will review thedevelopment of Bowen’s theory, then, it will illustrate Bowen’s eightinterlocking terms. Finally, this paper will present a clinical example,applying family systems therapy to an individual who struggles withdifferentiation and discusses the outcomes.

N2  - Buçalışmanın amacı, Bowen Aile Sistemleri Teorisi’nin kuramsal yapılanmasını,uygulamasını ve sonuçlarını göstermektir. Murray Bowen, aile sistemleriteorisinin kurucusu ve aile terapisindeki öncü isimlerden biridir. Bowen,“benliğin farklılaşması” terimini, füzyon olmadan duygusal ve entelektüelişleyiş arasında denge kurma kapasitesi olarak tanımlamıştır. Bowen bu terimiaile sistemi teorisi ışığında tanımlamış ve kendini farklılaştırmanın bireyinaile yaşamıyla yakından ilgili olduğuna inanmıştır. Bu terimle Bowen, duygusal olgunluğave duygusal ilişkilerde bağımsız düşünmeyi sürdürmeye işaret etmiştir. BowenTeorisi, aile terapisi dünyasını büyük ölçüde etkilemiş ve ayrıca yapılançalışmalar Bowen’ın teorisinin bireysel terapi uygulamaları üzerinde deetkinliğini göstermiştir. Bu çalışma, Bowen teorisinin formülasyonunu açıklamaktave farklılaşma ile ilgili sorun yaşayan bir danışana uygulanmasınıvurgulamaktadır. Öncelikle, bu çalışma Bowen’in teorisinin gelişimini gözdengeçirecek, daha sonra Bowen’in teorisindeki sekiz önemli terimi açıklayacaktır.Son olarak, bu makale farklılaşma ile mücadele eden bireye aile sistemleriterapisi uygulanması ile ilgili klinik bir örnek sunacak ve sonuçlarınıtartışacaktır.
