N2 - When it is considered that the languages’ main fuction is to communicate human with the object, the importance of vocabulary which creates social memory is easily understood. Vocabulary is not only the construction of a language, but also it is reflection pf a multi-dimensional social discource which creates that construction. In addition to this, one of the aims of the mother tongue based education is also to make people who learn and teach to contribute this social discourse. For this reason, at the moment of the mother tongue based education, analytically aesthetically functions should be gained. A person gains his or her mother tongue before the preschool education by family, that person has the vocabulary word by wor, then that person develops it and depend it. This period continues systematically in this way with the Turkish lessons in the education and training period. The educated and trained person comes across with the whealth of Turkish. The aim of this research is to identify how often the 6th grade students use idioms in written expressions with a parallel with their Turkish course book and to identify the using of the idoms in written expression according to the themes. The research was done in IMKB Secondary School and Mehmetçik Secondary School in Erzincan. The research included 30 students from 6th grade. Each student was made written expression study three times and their using of idiom was identified on these writing.
