N2 - Objective: In this study, the relationship among attitudes towards rape victims andperpetrators, rape myths, just world belief and gender roles are investigated and also analyzedagainst a number of demographic variables such as gender, age, and education level throughmultiple rape scenarios. Methods: A total of 300 people were included in the study, including 164 female and136 male participants over the age of 18, who were non-random sampling. Paticipants wereasked to complete Personal Information Form, Illinois Rape Myth Acceptance Scale, JustWorld Scale, BEM Sex-Role Inventory and Evaluation Test with ten questions about rapescenarios. To measure the relationship among the variables correlation analysis was carriedout and to examine the difference between the variables ANOVA.Results: The results demonstrated that male participants tended to accuse the victimand accept the rape myths more than female participants. Participants who have lowereducation level and have greater masculinity levels accepted the rape myths and accused thevictim. The victim, once depicted as a more respectable person in the scenario, was accusedless as being the instigator and careless, was considered less as the responsible party, wasconsidered to be affected more from what happened. Conclusion: As expected, it became evident that the rape victim was accused more asthe acceptance of the rape myths increased. Similarly to the literature, males tended to put theblame on the victim and hold her accountable more than females. It was showed that therespectability of the victim influenced the accusation tendency of the victim. It is cruciallyimportant to take the required precautions and to utilize various sanctions.
