The recent identificationof language teaching is leaning to develop intercultural communicativecompetence. So, international exchange opportunities may be utilized to developintercultural communicative effectiveness, one of the components ofintercultural communicative competence. Within this perspective this article usethe analysis of the data from a project between Fırat University and TurkishCollaboration and Coordination Agency (TIKA) as base. The participants were theTurkish EFL (English as a foreign language) learners and the Ghanaian teachercandidates (GTC). The aim was to investigate the participants’ interculturaleffectiveness development and their perceptions of the usefulness of their interculturalinteractions on academic achievement in this respect. Data collected from anIntercultural Effectiveness Scale (IES), and interviews were analyzed toaddress the research questions. Findings, taken from the quantitative andqualitative analysis, show that students developed their interculturaleffectiveness levels and increased their academic achievement to some extent. Basedon the results intercultural collaborations are discussed to provideintercultural scope and language learning facilities for students.
