KW - kaçınma KW - demografik özellikler KW - trafik güvenliği N2 - Driverbehaviours are the main contributory factor which affect traffic safetynegatively. These behaviours may occur intentionally such as violations orunintentionally such as mistakes. Additionally, avoidance behaviour which canbe related to risky behaviour appears as an important factor that must beinvestigated. In traffic situations, drivers can exhibit avoidance behaviourfor many reasons such as traffic conditions, bad weather conditions or theiraccident history. The aim of the present study is to examine the relationshipbetween avoidance behaviour and demographic characteristics of the drivers. Onehundred fifty-three males, 138 females, a total of 291 drivers participated inthe study. The participants were asked to complete a questionnaire including ademographic information form and the Driving and Riding Avoidance Scale (DRAS).In the first step, DRAS was translated into Turkish and factor analysis wasconducted. After that, to investigate the relationship between avoidancebehaviour and demographic characteristics, hierarchical regression analyseswere conducted. Results showed that avoidance behaviour is positively relatedto accident history while it is negatively related to age. Additively, femaledrivers showed more avoidance behaviour than male drivers. The findings areimportant for understanding avoidance behaviour, which has the potential toaffect traffic safety. CR - Błachnio, A., Przepiórka, A., Sullman, M. ve Taylor, J. (2013).
