AB  - Giriş: İnsan sağlığına önemli katkıları olan hemşirelik mesleğinin etkin bir şekilde icra edilebilmesi için mesleğin bilinçli olarak tercih edilmesi, iyi tanınması, sevilmesi ve benimsenmesi gerekmektedir.Amaç: Araştırma hemşirelik öğrencilerinin meslek seçimini etkileyen faktörleri incelemek amacıyla yapılmıştır. Yöntem: Tanımlayıcı nitelikteki araştırma, bir sağlık yüksekokulunda 140 hemşirelik bölümü birinci sınıf öğrencisi ile yürütülmüştür. “Tanıtıcı Bilgi Formu” ve “Hemşirelikte Meslek Seçimi Ölçeği” ile toplanan veriler tanımlayıcı testler, t testi, ANOVA, Mann-Whitney U, Kruskal-Wallis testleri kullanılarak analiz edilmiştir.Bulgular: Öğrencilerin hemşireliği tercih etmesindeki ilk üç neden yardım etme isteği, yakınlarının önerisi ve işsiz kalmama düşüncesidir. İdealindeki meslek hemşirelik olanların, hemşireliği kendi isteği ile seçenlerin ve hemşireliği toplum yararına çalışan bir meslek olarak görenlerin, diğer öğrencilere göre mesleki uygunluk puanının anlamlı şekilde yüksek olduğu belirlenmiştir (p<0,05). Hemşireliği aile/akraba tavsiyesi ile seçenlerin, kendi isteğiyle seçenlere göre yaşamsal nedenler puanının anlamlı düzeyde yüksek olduğu bulunmuştur (p<0,05). Sonuç: Öğrencilerin hemşirelik mesleğini seçmelerinde etkili olan faktörler; yardım etme isteği, yakınlarınca hemşirelik mesleğine uygun görülmeleri ve işsiz kalmama düşüncesidir. Ayrıca, hemşireliği ideal bir meslek olarak görmenin ve kendi isteği ile mesleği seçmenin mesleki uygunluk açısından pozitif bir etkiye sahip olduğu görülmüştür.

N2  - Introduction: The nursing profession, which has important contributions to human health, to be performed effectively, the profession should be consciously preferred, well recognized, loved and adopted.Aim: This study was conducted to examine the factors affecting the choice of profession of nursing students. Methods: This descriptive study was conducted with 140 first year students of the Department of Nursing at the School of Health. The data collected through “Introductory Information Form” and ''Vocational Choices in Entering The Field of Nursing Scale'' were analyzed in a statistical package program by using descriptive tests, t test, ANOVA, Mann-Whitney U, Kruskal-Wallis tests.Results: The first three reasons why students prefer nursing profession are; desire to help, suggestion of others and to have a profession that is always in demand. It was determined that the professional eligibility score of those who have targeted the nursing profession, those who chose nursing voluntarily and those who see nursing as a profession that works for the benefit of the society is significantly higher than other students (p<0.05). It was found that those who choose nursing with family/relative advice have a higher score of life reasons than those who choose voluntarily (p<0.05).Conclusion: The factors that are affecting students' choice to be a nurse can be listed as desire to help people, being considered appropriate for the profession by the relatives and the idea of not being unemployed. In addition, it was observed that perceiving nursing as an ideal profession and choosing nursing profession voluntarily was a positive effect in terms of professional suitability.
