Gazetelerde coğrafyayla ilgili haberler içinde çevre sorunlara ait haberlerin daha çok yer tutuğu görülür. Coğrafya öğretimiyle ilgili haberler, tablo-grafik yorumlama ve oluşturma becerilerinin geliştirilmesi, yakın çevre konularının öğretimi, metin analiz çalışmaları, proje ve ev ödevi çalışmaları vb. pek çok alanda öğretimde kullanılabilir.
