Despite of the development of new technologies and knowledge including tool geometries in micro scale, and new coating materials and grades, tool wear increases rapidly, and the tool life can be as short as just a few minutes in threading operation of hard-to-cut materials such as stainless steel. Moreover, tool wear influences the workpiece geometrical accuracy and surface quality of the machined specimens. Current work investigates the effects of different cutting strategies and parameters on the tool wear during external threading operation of AISI 316L stainless steel. The wear rate and mechanism have been evaluated on the nose, left and right sides of the cutting edges. The tool wear problem has been evaluated through desirability function optimization method. </div>}, number={1}, organization={TUBITAK}
