Sanliurfa, Turkey, according to the grid system, enters into squares of C6, C7, C8. 150 taxa of the Leguminosae family have natural distribution in Sanliurfa region. Some of these plants has been shown to be of value in terms of ethnobotany. Among these Astragalus aduncus, A. aleppicus, A. ancistrocarpus, A. hamosus, A. russelii, Coronilla scorpioides, Hippocrepis uniciliquosa, Hymenocarpus circinnatus, Lathyrus cicera, Lens orientalis, Medicago granadensis, M. orbicularis, M. polymorpha, M. rigidula, Melilotus officinalis, Prosopis farcta, Trifolium campestre, T. resupinatum, T. stellataum, Trigonella astroites, T. coelesyriaca, T. mesopotamica, T. monantha, T. monspeliaca, T. spruneriana, Vicia anatolica, V. hybrida, V. narbonensis, V. sativa species, such as is used for animal feed; Alhagi pseudoalhagi, Astragalus russelii species have been used as firewood, and Glycyrrhiza glabra commonly consumed as a drink.
