Bilinçli farkındalık ise, bireylerin içinde bulunduğu ana dair zihinsel, duygusal ve bedensel dikkatli tutumlarıdır. Bu araştırma duygu düzenleme, ebeveynin çocuğuyla iletişimi kavramları arasındaki ilişkiyi ve bilinçli farkındalığın bu ilişkide aracı rolü olup olmadığını incelemektedir. Araştırmanın örneklemi, okul öncesi dönemde çocuğu olan 416 anneden oluşmaktadır. Veri toplama sürecinde Duygu Düzenleme Ölçeği, Bilinçli Farkındalık Ölçeği ve Ebeveynin Çocuğuyla İletişimi Ölçeği kullanılmıştır. SPSS programında yapılan regresyon analizleri sonucunda; duygu düzenlemenin ebeveynin çocuğuyla iletişimi üzerinde anlamlı bir yordayıcı etkisi olduğu ancak, duygu düzenleme ile ebeveynin çocuğuyla iletişimi ilişkisinde bilinçli farkındalığın anlamlı bir aracı rol etkisi olmadığı bulunmuştur. Aynı zamanda, çocuk sayısı ve çocuğun yaşı demografik değişkenlerine göre ebeveynin çocuğuyla iletişimi puanlarının; eğitim düzeyi ve çocuk sayısına göre ifadeyi bastırma puanlarının; gelir düzeyine göre duygu düzenleme puanlarının anlamlı düzeyde farklılaştığı görülmüştür. Bulgular, literatürden elde edilen bilgilerle tartışılmış ve önerilerde bulunulmuştur.
