                            <p>The aim of this study is to examine the effect of the word wall method, applied to fourth-grade primary school students, on their fluent reading and reading comprehension skills. A quasi-experimental design, one of the quantitative research methods, was employed in the study. The study group consisted of a total of 43 students enrolled in two different fourth-grade classes at a public primary school. During the data collection process, students&#039; fluent reading skills (word recognition, reading speed, and prosody) and reading comprehension skills were assessed through pre-test and post-test data. The number of correctly read words per minute was used to measure students&#039; word recognition and reading speed. Prosodic reading skills were determined using the Prosodic Reading Scale. To assess reading comprehension skills, students were given open-ended questions targeting both literal and inferential understanding. The Shapiro-Wilk test was used to determine whether the data followed a normal distribution. Based on the distribution characteristics, parametric or non-parametric tests were applied for between-group and within-group comparisons. The findings of the study indicate that the word wall method is effective in improving fourth-grade students&#039; fluent reading and reading comprehension skills. In line with these results, several suggestions have been made for future similar studies.</p></trans-abstract>
                                                                                                                                    <abstract><p>Bu araştırmanın amacı, ilkokul dördüncü sınıf öğrencilerine uygulanan kelime duvarı yönteminin öğrencilerin akıcı okuma ve okuduğunu anlama becerileri üzerindeki etkisini incelemektir. Çalışmada nicel araştırma yöntemlerinden yarı deneysel desen kullanılmıştır. Araştırmanın çalışma grubunu, bir devlet ilkokulunun iki farklı dördüncü sınıfında öğrenim gören toplam 43 öğrenci oluşturmaktadır. Veri toplama sürecinde, öğrencilerin akıcı okuma (kelime tanıma, okuma hızı ve prozodik) ve okuduğunu anlama becerileri toplanan ön test ve son test verileriyle değerlendirilmiştir. Bir dakikada doğru okunan kelime sayıları ile öğrencilerin kelime tanıma ve okuma hızları ölçülmüştür. Prozodik okuma becerileri, Prozodik Okuma Ölçeği ile belirlenmiştir. Okuduğunu anlama becerisini ölçmek amacıyla, öğrencilere basit ve derin anlama düzeylerini değerlendiren açık uçlu sorular yöneltilmiştir. Verilerin normal dağılıma uygunluğunu belirlemek için Shapiro-Wilk testi kullanılmış; dağılım özelliklerine göre gruplar arası ve grup içi karşılaştırmalarda parametrik ya da non-parametrik testler uygulanmıştır. Araştırma bulguları, kelime duvarı yönteminin dördüncü sınıf öğrencilerinin akıcı okuma ve okuduğunu anlama becerilerini geliştirmede etkili olduğunu göstermektedir. Bu sonuçlar doğrultusunda, gelecekte yapılacak benzer çalışmalara yönelik çeşitli önerilerde bulunulmuştur.</p></abstract>
