Öz

Albert Memmi's book "Portrait of the Coloniser, Portrait of the Colonised" was written before the Algerian War and is an in-depth study of the processes of colonialism and colonisation. The book accurately depicts the physiognomy and behaviour of the coloniser and the colonised. It examines the lived experiences of the colonised, the motivations of the colonisers and the social, cultural and economic consequences of this process.
The aim of the book is to raise awareness of colonialism and colonisation and to help us understand the effects of these processes. It also discusses issues of social justice and equality related to colonialism and colonisation, and aims to illustrate the impact of these issues today.

Öz

Albert Memmi'nin "Sömürgecinin Portresi, Sömürgeleştirilenin Portresi" kitabı, Cezayir Savaşı'ndan önce yazılmış ve sömürgecilik ile sömürgeleştirme süreçlerini derinlemesine inceleyen bir eserdir. Kitap, sömürgeci ve sömürgeleştirilen bireylerin fizyonomisi ve davranışlarını kesin bir şekilde tasvir eder. Sömürgeleştirilenlerin yaşadığı deneyimleri, sömürgecilerin motivasyonlarını ve bu sürecin sosyal, kültürel ve ekonomik sonuçlarını incelemektedir.
Kitabın amacı, sömürgecilik ve sömürgeleştirme konularında farkındalık yaratmak ve bu süreçlerin etkilerini anlamamıza yardımcı olmaktır. Aynı zamanda, sömürgecilik ve sömürgeleştirmeyle ilgili toplumsal adalet ve eşitlik konularını da tartışırken, bu konuların günümüzdeki etkilerini de gözler önüne sermeyi amaçlamaktadır.
