Two faces of digital transformation: A bibliometric study on digital entrepreneurship and digital leadership

Yıl 2025, Cilt: 27 Sayı: 2, 459 - 475

Öz

The rapid development of digital technologies has transformed technological infrastructures, management approaches, leadership styles, and entrepreneurial practices. This shift has intensified academic interest in concepts like digital leadership and digital entrepreneurship. Digital leadership is defined as developing a digital vision, managing technological innovation, and fostering a digital culture, while digital entrepreneurship focuses on creating innovative business models through digital platforms. Although often examined separately, the connection between these concepts has gained increasing importance. This study offers one of the few bibliometric analyses addressing both areas together, aiming to reveal their academic development, emerging trends, and intersections. A total of 706 publications indexed in the Web of Science database between 2020 and 2025 were analyzed using the keywords digital leadership and digital entrepreneurship. The bibliometric analysis, conducted with R-based Bibliometrix and Biblioshiny tools, covers publication trends, author and institutional productivity, country contributions, keyword co-occurrences, and thematic clusters. The findings highlight a notable increase in academic attention after the COVID-19 pandemic, with innovation, strategy, technology, and performance emerging as common keywords. By systematically mapping the literature, this study provides an interdisciplinary perspective and valuable insights for future research on the evolving relationship between digital leadership and digital entrepreneurship.
