Türk MilliMücadele harekâtının en önemli dönüm noktası, Amasya Genelge’sininyayınlanmasıdır. Amasya’da Milli Mücadelenin komutanlarının imzası veonayı ile ilan edilen genelgeyle; Türk milletine egemenliği ve bağımsızlığıyolunda çağırıda bulunulup, kendi kaderini kendisinin tayin etmesi istenmiş vemilli mücadelenin esasları yazılı bir metin haline getirilmiştir.Aynızamanda milli mücadele için dağınık mahalli teşkilatların birleştirilmesi vemilli haklara sahip çıkacak kongrelerin toplanması istenmiştir.Türk istiklalmücadelesinin ilk temellerinin atıldığı Erzurum Kongresi ile milli güçleribirleştirmek ve milli harekâtı idare edebilecek bir teşkilatı kurmak amacıylatoplanacak olan milli kongrenin çağrıları da genelge ile yapılmıştır.AmasyaGenelgesinde geçen ve daha sonra sık sık ifade edilen “Milletin egemenliğiniyine milletin azim ve kararı kurtaracaktır” ilkesinin Erzurum Kongresi ileburada alınan aynı kararların pekiştirildiği Sivas Kongresi kararları üzerindeetkisi açıkça görülmektedir.
The turning point of the Turkish Independence struggle is the declarationof the Amasya Memorandum. With the approval and signature of the high rankedofficers about the declaration of the memorandum in Amasya, the memoranduminvited Turkish people to struggle for the sovereignty and independence and todecide their destiny. So the basis of the Turkish struggle became a writtendocument. The local organizations came together and the congresses whichadvocated the national rights were held.The Erzurum congress that formed the basis of the Turkish Independencestruggle and combined the national forces to direct national movement was heldby the help of the memorandum.The statement often mentioned in the memorandum “The Independence of theTurkish Nation would be saved by the determination and the decision of theNation itself” hand an effect on Sivas congress where the previous decisionswere reinforced.
