The Role of Psychological Benefits of Recreation on Satisfaction and Revisitation

Urban forests that include nature-based recreational activities have positive effects on individuals' psychological and mental health. The purpose of this research is to determine the relationships between the psychological benefits obtained from nature-based recreational activities by visitors to Aydos Forest, visitor satisfaction, and intentions to revisit, as well as to test the structural model formed by these variables. In this context, the survey form consists of demographic information, a psychological benefits scale (a sub-dimension of the recreational benefits scale), a visitor satisfaction scale, and a revisit intention scale. Data were collected through face-to-face and online surveys from 495 individuals visiting Aydos Forest on weekends in May 2024. The obtained data were analyzed using correlation and structural equation modeling analyses. The results showed strong and positive relationships between the psychological benefits of recreation and visitor satisfaction, as well as intentions to revisit. Additionally, a strong and positive relationship was found between visitor satisfaction and intentions to revisit. Mediation analysis conducted with the structural equation model revealed that visitor satisfaction plays a full mediating role in the effect of psychological benefits of recreation on the intention to revisit.

Doğa temelli rekreasyon faaliyetlerini içeren kent ormanları, bireylerin psikolojik ve zihinsel sağlıklarına olumlu etkilerde bulunmaktadır. Bu araştırmanın amacı, Aydos Ormanı ziyaretçilerinin doğa temelli rekreasyon aktivitelerinden elde ettikleri psikolojik faydalar ile ziyaretçi memnuniyeti ve tekrar ziyaret etme niyetleri arasındaki ilişkileri belirlemek ve bu değişkenlerle oluşturulan yapısal modeli test etmektir. Bu kapsamda anket formu, demografik bilgiler, rekreasyon fayda ölçeğinin alt boyutu olan psikolojik fayda ölçeği, ziyaretçi memnuniyet ölçeği ve tekrar ziyaret etme ölçeğinden oluşmaktadır. Mayıs 2024’te hafta sonları Aydos Ormanı’nı ziyaret eden 495 kişiden anket formu aracılığıyla yüz yüze ve çevrim içi veri toplanmıştır. Elde edilen veriler, korelasyon ve yapısal eşitlik modellemesi analizleri ile incelenmiştir. Sonuçlar, rekreasyonun psikolojik faydası ile ziyaretçi memnuniyeti ve tekrar ziyaret etme niyeti arasında güçlü ve pozitif ilişkiler olduğunu göstermiştir. Ayrıca ziyaretçi memnuniyeti ile tekrar ziyaret etme niyeti arasında da güçlü ve pozitif bir ilişki bulunmuştur. Yapısal eşitlik modeli ile yapılan aracılık analizi, rekreasyonun psikolojik faydasının tekrar ziyaret etme niyeti üzerindeki etkisinde, ziyaretçi memnuniyetinin tam aracılık rolü oynadığını ortaya koymuştur.
