Kuşadası Destinasyonunun İklim Özelliklerinin Dinlence ve Turizm Faaliyetlerinin Etkilenebilirliği Açısından Değerlendirilmesi

Öz

İklim, dinlence ve turizmfaaliyetleri açısından hem potansiyel hem de engelteşkil edebilmektedir. Ziyaretçilerin aldıkları hazzı ve dolayısıyla memnuniyetlerini etkileyen iklim özellikleri; turizm değer zincirindeki faaliyetleri baskılar hâle gelmiştir. İklim özellikleri; turizm türlerini, sezon uzunluklarını ve aktivite çeşitliliğini etkilediği için turizm profesyonelleri açısından da önemlidir. İklim değişikliği ve turizm ilişkisi hakkındaki bilgiler, sürdürülebilir turizmin gelişimi için gerekli olsa da konuyla ilgili çalışma sayısı sınırlıdır. Bu çalışmanın amacı; Türkiye’nin önemli destinasyonlarından olan Kuşadası’nda, iklim elemanlarındaki değişimin turizm açısından etkilerini belirleyerek önerilerde bulunmaktır. Çalışmada; iki turizm iklim indeksinin (TCI ve CTIS) kullandığı iklim elemanları ve indeks değerlerindeki farklar, iki dönem özelinde karşılaştırılarak turizm açısından uygunluğun zamansal değişimi tespit edilmiştir. Sonuçlar; yaz aylarında sıcaklık ve termal konfor açısından uygunluğun azaldığını, uygun koşulların ilkbahar ve sonbahar aylarına kaydığını işaret etmektedir. Çalışma turizm sektörü paydaşları ve karar vericileri için turizm ve dinlence aktivitelerinin farklılaşması, konum ve zamanlarının planlanması, programlanması ve teşvik edilmesi konularında yararlı bilgiler sunmaktadır.

Analysis of The Climate Characteristics in Kuşadası Destination for the Vulnerability of Recreation and Tourism Activities

Öz

Climate can both pose potential and obstacles for recreational and tourism activities. Climate characteristics which affect visitors’ pleasure and satisfaction turned out to have pressure on the activities in tourism value chain. Since climate characteristics affect tourism types, the length of the seasons and the diversity of activities, they are also important for tourism professionals. Although information about the relationship between climate change and tourism is crucial for ensuring sustainable tourism development, the number of studies focusing on the topic is limited. The aim of this study is to determine the impacts of the changes in climate characteristics and to offer suggestions for tourism in Kuşadası, one of Turkey’s important destinations. In the study, the differences in climate elements employed by two tourism–climate indices (TCI and CTIS) and the index values were compared in two study periods and the temporal changes in tourism suitability were determined. Results show that the tourism suitability decreases in summer months and shifts to the spring and autumn months in terms of temperature and thermal comfort. Therefore, the paper provides useful insights on the development/diversification of tourism and recreation activities, planning, programming and promotion of their locations and times.
