                            <p>The urban heat island phenomenon is considered a local manifestation of global climate change. In this context, through studies supported by time-series analyses of climate data, policies, strategies, and action plans are being developed by considering urbanization dynamics in the built environment and a sustainable ecosystem approach in the natural environment. This study aims to determine local climate zones and examine the effects of local climate zones on the urban heat island (UHI) in central districts of Denizli province. A three-stage methodology is adopted. In the first stage, a comprehensive database is created, and statistical analyses in study area are performed using Geographic Information Systems (GIS) tools. The second stage involves spatial analyses in study area, examining the relationship between local climate zones and the UHI effect through a literature review. In the third and final stage, based on the findings, policies and strategies are formulated to mitigate the UHI effect and adapt to climate change, considering the distinct characteristics of the different local climate zones.</p></trans-abstract>
                                                                                                                                    <abstract><p>Kentsel ısı adası olgusu, küresel iklim değişikliğinin yerel düzeydeki bir tezahürü olarak ele alınmaktadır. Bu bağlamda, iklim verilerinin zaman serisi analizleriyle desteklendiği çalışmalar aracılığıyla yapılaşmış çevredeki kentleşme dinamikleri ve doğal çevrede sürdürülebilir ekosistem yaklaşımı dikkate alınarak politika, strateji ve eylem planları geliştirilmektedir. Çalışmada Denizli kentinin merkez ilçelerinde yerel iklim bölgelerinin belirlenmesi ve yerel iklim bölgelerinin kentsel ısı adası üzerindeki etkilerinin incelenmesi amaçlanmıştır. Üç aşamalı bir yöntemin benimsendiği çalışmada; ilk aşamada ilgili kurumlardan temin edilen verilerle Coğrafi Bilgi Sistemleri (CBS) kullanılarak kapsamlı bir veri tabanı oluşturulmuş ve çalışma alanında istatistiksel analizler gerçekleştirilmiştir. İkinci aşamada, çalışma alanında mekânsal analizler yapılmış ve literatür taraması sonucunda yerel iklim bölgeleri ile kentsel ısı adası etkisi arasındaki ilişki irdelenmiştir. Üçüncü ve son aşamasında ise, elde edilen bulgular ışığında, yerel iklim bölgelerinin farklılaşan özellikleri dikkate alınarak kentsel ısı adası etkisinin azaltılması ve iklim değişikliğine uyum sağlanmasına yönelik politikalar ve stratejiler üretilmiştir.</p></abstract>
