Anne dünyanın tüm medeniyetlerinde insanı dünyaya getiren bir varlık olarak kutsal bir yere sahiptir. Dünyaya gelen bebeğin hayatta kalması için zaruri maddi ihtiyaçlarının yanı sıra manevi olarak gelişimi, eğitimi ve terbiyesi alanlarında da en büyük rol annenindir. Zira çocuğun bu dünyadaki ilk öğretmeni annesidir. Öyle ki çocuk pek çok şeyi annesini taklit ederek öğrenir. Çocuğun karakter oluşumunda en önemli görev yine anneye düşmektedir. İnsanın hayatının en değerli varlığı olan anne ve ona karşı duyulan sevgi üzerine pek şarkı, şiir, hikâye, roman vb. gibi edebi eserler kaleme alınmıştır. Urdu edebiyatında da anne sevgisi ve annelik üzerine pek çok edebi eseri görmekteyiz. Bunlardan biri de Pakistan’ın ünlü şairi, mütefekkiri ve filozofu Allama Muhammed İkbal’in annesinin ölümü üzerine yazdığı “Merhume Validem Anısına” isimli şiiridir. Şiirde İkbal annesinin ölümü üzerine duyduğu üzüntüyü etkili bir biçimde dile getirmiştir. İkbal eserinde annesinin hayatının neresinde olduğunu, kaybı üzerine duyduğu derin hüznü ancak kader karşısında sabretmekten başka çaresi olmadığını dile getirir ve şiirini annesi için ettiği hayır dualarla bitirir. Bu çalışmada “Merhume Validem Anısına” isimli şiirin tematik incelemesi yapılarak Muhammed İkbal’in annesine karşı hisleri felsefi ve duygusal açıdan incelenmeye çalışılmıştır.
The mother has a sacred place in all civilizations of the world as an entity that brings human beings into the world. In addition to the essential material needs of the baby to survive, the mother plays the biggest role in the spiritual development, education and upbringing of the baby. Because the first teacher of the child in this world is the mother. So much so that the child learns many things by imitating his mother. The most important role in the character formation of the child falls to the mother. Many literary works such as songs, poems, stories, novels, etc. have been written about the mother, who is the most valuable asset of human life, and the love for her. In Urdu literature, we see many literary works on mother love and motherhood. One of them is the poem "In Memory of My Deceased Mother" written by the famous poet, thinker and philosopher of Pakistan, Allama Muhammad Iqbal on the death of his mother. In the poem, Iqbal effectively expressed his sorrow over the death of his mother. In his work, Iqbal expresses where his mother was in his life, his deep sorrow over her loss, but he has no choice but to be patient in the face of fate, and ends his poem with his blessings for his mother. In this study, the thematic analysis of the poem titled "In Memory of My Deceased Mother" will be made and Muhammad Iqbal's feelings towards his mother will be analyzed philosophically and emotionally.
