In sunspot observations m ade a t the U niversity O bservatory a t Ankara, the Sun is pro- jected on a screen and the borders of the um bra and penum bra of the sunspots seen on the sur- face are draw n. The heliograhpic coordinates of the sunspot groups delineated are determ ined for each day.
The sun was observed on only 279 days and a total of 273 sunspot groups were seen on the projected screen in 1983.
In this paper the sunspot groups seen betw een the solar rotation num ber 1730 and 1743, inclusive, and th eir developm ent and th e distribution of these sunspot groups in the northern and Southern latitudes are given. In addition, the sum of the num ber of the spot groups in each rotation is also given for each type a t the end of th eir developm ent.
