140 cases in which the appereance of cerviz in gynecological examination is suspicious were included to this study, A simultaneous
pap-smear with detailed cclposcopic examination was carried out on each case. Whenever the colposcopic anopearenco was abnormal and
pap-smear was positive, a biopsy specimen was taken from the suspected area in 44 cases. Different surgical procedures were carried out to 11 of these cases. Colposcopic appearence, pap-smear, biopsy and
the specimens from the surgical interventions were compared to find
the correlation between the cervical epithelial pathology and atypia
in colposcopic appereance. As a result, epitelial abnormality was
shown mostly in the area characterized with vascular atypia among
the other colposcopic examination findings (72,7 %).
