Extracapsular Spread of Metastases in Cervical lymph Nodes in laryngeal cancer

Abstract

Fourty-four patients with laryngeal squamous cell carcinoma who underwent fifty neck dissections have been observed to reach the conclusion whether there is a relation between extracapsular tumoral spread of metastases in cervical lymph nodes and neck relapses. Extracapsular spread was found in 18 % of patients with No nodes, and in 30 % of patients with Ni nodes, and in 65 % of patients with N2 nodes. Without taking the T-stage classification, the number of malignant nodes and the diameter of malignant nodes into consideration, it has been shown that the capsular rupture is the most mportant factor on prognosis.

LARENK KANSEBLERINDEKI SERVIXAL LENF NODU METASTAZLARINDA EKSTRAKAPSULER YAYILIM

Abstract

Larenks skuamöz hücreli karsinomu olan ve elli boyun diseksiyonu uygulanan kırk dört hastada, servikal lenf nodlarındaki metastazların kapsül dışı tümör yayılımı ile boyun nüksleri arasında bir ilişki olup olmadığı sonucuna varılmıştır. Nodülü olmayan hastaların %18'inde, Ni nodülü olan hastaların %30'unda ve N2 nodülü olan hastaların %65'inde kapsül dışı yayılım bulunmuştur. T evresi sınıflandırması, malign nod sayısı ve malign nod çapı dikkate alınmadan, kapsül rüptürünün prognoz üzerinde en önemli faktör olduğu gösterilmiştir.
