CA 125 Levels in Diagnosis and Treatment Follow Up of Pelvic Masses

Abstract

Preoperative and postoperative CA 125 serum levels were measured in 79 serum samples of 32 patients who had malign gynecological diseases and 10 patients who had benign gynecological problems. CA 125 serum levels were found over 35 U/ml in 93.8 % of patients with malignancies which showed a parallelism with their malign diseases. Because measurements of the CA 125 serum levels were over 65 U/ml in 71.4 % of patients, this level can be accepted as a critical index for malignancies.CA 125 serum levels were below 65 U/ml in the patient group with benign gynecological disease •as endometriosis and uterine myomas. 50 % of the patients had over 35 U/ml serum levels of CA 125 in this group. In relation with the total or partial excision of the tumor, the serum levels of CA 125 decreased below 35 U/ml in 59 % of the patients who had malignancies. Serum levels of CA 125 were over 35 U/ml in 80 % of patients with benign gynecological disorders. In one endometriosis case, it was between 35 U/ml and 65 U/ml. These measurements indicate that CA 125 can be used in the diagnosis and treatment results in a large group of ovarian carcinomas.

Pelvik Kitlelerin Tanı Ve Tedavilerinin Takibinde Ca 125 Değerleri

Abstract

Malign jinekolojik hastalığı olan 32 hastada ve benign jinekolojik hastalığı olan 10 hastadan toplam 79 serum örneğinde preoperatif ve posloperalif CA 125 değerlendirilmesi yapıldı.
Malign jinekolojik hastalıklarda CA 125 % 93.8 oranında 35 U/ ml. üzerinde değerlerle maJignite ile paralellik göstermiştir. Bu grupta özellikle % 71.4 oranında 65 U/ml. üzerinde değerler bulunması, malign hastalıkları için 65 U/ml.nin sınır indeks olarak kabul edilebileçeğini gösterir, tam Benign hastallklar içinde endometriozis ve myoma uteri olgularmda % 50 oramnda 35 U/ml üzerinde CA 125 degerleri bulunmustur. Hiç bir olguda CA 125 degeri 65 U/ml. üzerinde ç1kmam1St1r.Tümörün tüm olarak çlkarllmasl veya çlkarllmamasma bažll Olarak postoperatif CA 125 degeri malign hastallk grubunda % 59 oranmda 35/Uml. altma düsmüîtür. Benign hastallk grubunda ise postoperatif % 80 oramnda 35 U/ml. altmda degerler bulunurken 1 endometriozis olkusunda CA 125 35 - 65 U/ml. arasmda kalml$tlr.Bu bulgular CA 125'in genis bir grup over karsinomunun erken teshis ve tedavisinin takibinde kullanllabilirližini gösterir.
