Bronchial sleeve resection and bronchoplastic procedures
Abstract
In this report, 31 cases in whom bronchial sleeve resection and bronchoplasty were performed, have been reviewed. Sleeve resection was performed in 13 cases of bronchial adenoma and sleeve lobectomy was performed in 12 cases of bronchial carcinoma and bronchial ade- noma. In one case sleeve resection was accompanied by carinoplasty and in another by segmentectomy. In four cases bronchial rupture due to blunt trauma was repaired by bronchoplastic procedure. In the postoperative psriod we observed minor complications in 7 and major complications in 3 cases. Two cases of bronchial carcinoma, one case of bronchial adenoma and one case of bronchial rupture died in the postoperative period. Recurrence was detected in two cases of bronc- hial carcinoma, 7 and 22 months after the operation. Among the ot- her cases of bronchial carcinoma there has not been any recurrence in two cases after a follow up 5 years, while was could not get information im other two, Twentyone cases which were operated because of bronchial adenoma and rupture remained asymptomatic, during the follow up of 1 - 15 years.
