Diagnosis of Aytism and the Distribution of Symptoms

Abstract

In this research, the distribution of symptoms of 119 children who were diagnosed as autism according to DSM HI-R (4) and Additional Symptom List were investigated. In this group, 25 high functioning 18 clinically normal IÇ and 21 clinically mentally handicapped children were compareti according to their symptoms. Also, the age at which
the symptoms were identifigd and age of admission were compared ac- cording to different SES, In addition, the children who were admitted to our clinic for 14 years, beginning with the foundation of our clinic and children who were admitted for the last two years were compared according to sex ratio, parent education, çhild motor and language de- velopment. The results show that, clinically mentally handicapped group had İfewer number symptoms than the other two groups. There were no significant differences in different SES groups, in relation to the age of which the symptom were identified and age of admission. Also, the- re were no difference in the group who were admitted to our clinic for id years and for the last two years in reletion to language and motor development. The only difference between these two groups İs that the education level of fathers in the group who were admitted for
the last two years is lower.

OTİSTİK BOZUKLUKTA TANI KOYMA VE BELİRTİ DAĞILIMI

Abstract

Bu araştırmada, 119 otistik bozukluk tanısı konmuş çocuğun DSM HI-R ve daha önce geliştirilmiş olan otistik çocuklar için Ek Belirti Listesine göre, belirti dağılımları incelenmiştir. Bu grup içinde yüksek fonksiyonlu olan 25, klinik olarak zekâ kusuru olmayan 18 ve zekâ kusuru olan 21 denek belirtileri yönünden karşılaştırılmıştır. Ayrıca
farklı eğitim düzeyindeki ailelerin çocuklarındaki farklılığı anlama ve kliniğe götürme yaşları incelenmiştir. Bunun yanısıra, kliniğimizin kuruluşundan itibaren 14 yılda
gelen otistik çocuklarla son iki yılda gelen otistik çocuklar cinsiyet oranı, anne-baba eğitimi, motor ve dil gelişimi yönünden karşılaştırı!lmışlardır. Yüksek fonksiyonlu otistik çocuklarla zekâ özürlü olmayan otistik çocukların, zekâ özürlü olan otistik çocuklardan daha fazla belirti gösterdikleri saptanmıştır. Çocuklarındaki farklılığı anlama ve çocuk
psikiyatrisi kliniğine başvurma yönünden farklı eğitim düzeylerindeki aileler arasında benzerlik görülmüştür. Kliniğimize ilk 14 yılda getirilen otistik çocuklarla son iki yılda getirilenlerin, cinsiyet oranı, motor ve dil gelişimi yönünden benzer oldukları bulunmuştur. Sadece son iki yılda getirilen çocukların babaları arasında ilkokul mezunu
olanlarda artış olduğu belirlenmiştir.
