Analysis of Publications on Slow Cities (Cittaslow) in WoS and Scopus Database with VOSviewer Program

Öz

The purpose of this article is to make a bibliometric analysis of research on slow cities.
Quantitative research method was used in this study. With bibliometric analysis methodology, numerical
and statistical data of the publications were revealed in order to analyze, and visualize the literature on
Cittaslow. Survey model was used to study. As a data collection tool, publications on slow cities
published in the WoS and Scopus database between 2008-2022 were reached. First, 90 publications in
the Web of Science database were accessed. In the WoS database, most publications were made in
the tourism category regarding slow cities. The types of these publications are the most article types
with 77 publications. With 35 publications in the "Emerging Sources Citation Index (ESCI)" index, it is
more than other indexes. Turkey comes first with 33 publications in which the publications are analyzed
by country. The highest number of publications was made by Sarah Pink and it reached the highest
number of citations. The most used words by the authors in the WoS database are slow city, slow cities,
sustainable development, Sustainability, sustainable tourism, slow food, slow tourism and quality of life
in their publications. Secondly, 94 publications were reached in the Scopus database. The types of these
publications are the most article types with 66 publications. When the publications are analyzed by
country, Turkey ranks first with 28 publications. The most used words by the authors in the Scopus
database are “Cittaslow”. Sustainability, quality of life, slow food, sustainable tourism, sustainable
development, slow tourism, destination marketing, small towns/cities In their publications. This study
aims to use bibliometric analysis as a literature review tool for future research on slow cities, as well as
to visualize the literature by creating bibliographic maps through the VOSviewer program, targeting in a
more understandable network visualization of authors, citations, documents, institutions, sources, and
most used words.

WoS ve Scopus Veri Tabanındaki Yavaş Şehirlerle (Cittaslow) İlgili Yayınların VOSviewer Programıyla Analizi

Öz

Bu makalenin amacı, “Yavaş Şehir”lerle ilgili araştırmaların bibliyometrik analizini yapmaktır.
Araştırmada nicel araştırma yöntemi kullanılmıştır. Bibliyometrik analiz yöntemiyle “Yavaş Şehir”lerle
ilgili literatür analiz edilerek ve görselleştirilerek yayınların sayısal ve istatistik verileri ortaya koyulmuştur.
Araştırma tarama modelinde tasarlanmıştır. Araştırmada 2008-2022 tarihleri arasında WoS ve Scopus
veri tabanında yayınlanan yayınlara ulaşılmıştır. İlk olarak Web of Science veri tabanında 90 yayına
erişilmiştir. WoS veri tabanında “Yavaş Şehir”lerle ilgili en çok turizm kategorisinde yayın yapılmıştır.
Bu yayınların türleri 77 yayın sayısıyla en çok makale türündedir. “Emerging Sources Citation Index
(ESCI)” indeksinde 35 yayın sayısıyla diğer indekslerden fazladır. Yayınlar ülkelere göre incelendiği 33
yayınla Türkiye ilk sırada gelmektedir. En fazla yayın Sarah Pink tarafından yapılmış ve en fazla atıf
sayısına ulaşmıştır. WoS veri tabanında yazarların yayınlarında en çok kullandıkları kelimeler sırasıyla
yavaş şehir, yavaş şehirler, sürdürülebilir kalkınma, sürdürülebilirlik, sürdürülebilir turizm, yavaş yemek,
yavaş turizm ve yaşam kalitesidir. İkinci olarak ise Scopus veri tabanında 94 yayına ulaşılmıştır. Bu
yayınların türleri 66 yayın sayısıyla en çok makale türündedir. Yayınlar ülkelere göre incelendiği 28
yayınla Türkiye ilk sırada gelmektedir. Scopus veri tabanında yazarların en çok kullandıkları kelimeler
ise “Yavaş Şehir”ler (cittaslow), “Yavaş Şehir” (slow city), sürdürülebilirlik, yaşam kalitesi, yavaş yemek,
sürdürülebilir turizm, sürdürülebilir kalkınma, yavaş turizm, destinasyon pazarlaması, küçük
kasabalar/şehirlerdir. Bu çalışma “Yavaş Şehir”lerle ilgili gelecekte yapılacak araştırmalar için bir
literatür incelemesi aracı olarak bibliyometrik analizin kullanılması, aynı zamanda literatürün VOSviewer
programı aracılığıyla bibliyografik haritalar oluşturularak görselleştirilmesiyle yazarlar, atıf, dokümanlar,
kurumlar, kaynaklar ve en çok kullanılan kelimelerin ağ görselleştirmeleri sayesinde daha anlaşılır hale
gelmesi hedeflenmektedir.
