The aim of this study is to identify the problems that physicians face with tourists in the context of medical tourism. In order to identify the problems, a qualitative research method was chosen. The research was conducted with physicians who serve health tourists and also own clinics/polyclinics in Istanbul, one of the most sought-after cities in the field of medical tourism. A structured interview form was used as a data collection tool. The data obtained from the face-to-face interviews with the physicians were subjected to descriptive analysis. It was found that the physicians and health tourists experience problems caused by the excessive number of companions, communication with patients and their relatives, delays in appointments, and cultural differences.
Bu çalışmada, medikal turizm kapsamında hizmet veren hekimlerin turistler ile yaşadıkları sorunları tespit etmek amaçlanmıştır. Yaşanılan sorunları tespit etmek amacıyla nitel araştırma yöntemi tercih edilmiştir. Araştırma, medikal turizm alanında talep gören illerden biri olan İstanbul’da sağlık turistlerine hizmet veren, aynı zamanda klinik ya da poliklinik sahibi olan hekimler ile yürütülmüştür. Veri toplama aracı olarak yapılandırılmış görüşme formu kullanılmıştır. Hekimler ile gerçekleştirilen yüz yüze görüşme sonucunda elde edilen veriler betimsel analize tabi tutulmuş, hekim-sağlık turisti arasında, refakatçi sayısının fazlalığı, hasta ve yakınları ile iletişim, randevularda gecikme ve kültürel farklılıklarından kaynaklı sorunların yoğun bir şekilde yaşandığı tespit edilmiştir.
