The
purpose of this study is to examine whether the education with drama method in
social sciences affects social ability levels, empathic ability levels and
academic achievements of 7th graders or not. “Solomon four-group research
model” was used in the research. Work group of the research composes from 127 seventh
graders. In creating work groups, appropriate sampling was used. In the study
conducted in social sciences, the method used in experiment groups was drama,
whereas the method used in control groups was traditional education. Data
collection tool of the research was Social Ability Scale, Empathic Ability
Scale B Form and Academic Achievement Tests was used. According to the research
results; It was concluded that the social studies course taught with drama
method is more effective in increasing social skills, empathic skills and
academic success compared to the course taught with traditional teaching
methods.
