The purpose of this research is to determine the factors affecting the career choices of 735 students studying in the 9th grade by utilizing the data obtained from the student survey implemented within the scope of the Monitoring of Learning Processes Project by using data mining methods. The impact of student’s gender, monthly income of his family, education status of his father, his mother's educational status, bullying situation at school during the academic year, his father's profession, the number of books at home, the student's absence from school, the state of ownership of the house they live have been examined in their career choices. Decision trees technique, one of the data mining techniques, has been applied by making use of the survey data applied after the examination made within the scope of Bartın Success follow-up research. Data were analyzed in the RapidMiner Studio and SPSS Statistics 25. It is seen that gender is effective in career choice, and that female students have more four-year university goals than male students. It was concluded that the higher the education level of the parents, the higher the career choices of the children. It was found that the education level of fathers was more influential on the career choice of students than the education level of mothers. It was concluded that the higher the economic income level, the healthier and more meaningful career choices of the students.
Bu araştırmanın amacı; Bartın Öğrenme Süreçlerinin İzlenmesi Projesi kapsamında uygulanan öğrenci anketinden elde edilen verilerden yararlanılarak 9. sınıfta okuyan 735 öğrencinin, kariyer seçimleri üzerinde etkili olan faktörleri veri madenciliği yöntemleri kullanarak belirlemektir. Öğrencilerin kariyer seçimlerine; cinsiyetin, ailesinin aylık gelir düzeyinin, babasının eğitim durumunun, annesinin eğitim durumunun, öğretim yılı içerisinde okulda zorbalığa maruz kalma durumunun, babasının mesleğinin, evdeki kitap sayısının, öğrencinin okula devamsızlık durumunun, oturdukları evin sahiplik durumunun etkisi incelenmiştir. Bartın Başarı Takip Araştırması kapsamında yapılan sınavdan sonra uygulanan anket verilerinden yararlanarak veri madenciliği tekniklerinden birisi olan karar ağaçları tekniği uygulanmıştır. RapidMiner Studio programı ve SPSS Statistics 25 programında veriler analiz edilmiştir. Cinsiyetin kariyer seçiminde etkili olduğu kız öğrencilerin dört yıllık üniversite hedefinin erkek öğrencilere oranla daha fazla olduğu görülmektedir. Ebeveynlerin eğitim düzeyinin arttıkça çocukların kariyer seçimlerinin de yükseldiği sonucuna varılmıştır. Babaların eğitim düzeyi öğrencilerin kariyer seçimi üzerinde annelerin eğitim düzeyinden daha etkili olduğu bulgusuna ulaşılmıştır. Ekonomik gelir düzeyi yükseldikçe öğrencilerin kariyer seçimleri daha sağlıklı ve anlamlı olduğu sonucuna ulaşılmıştır.
