Aim: Emergency Departments are critical units in health care, providing immediate intervention, 24-hour service, and serving as the first point of contact for critically ill and injured patients. This study aimed to evaluate the characteristics of patients presenting to a state hospital's emergency department.Material and Method: A retrospective study was conducted on patients presenting to a state hospital in the Cappadocia region from January 2017 to December 2021. The study population comprised all patients who applied to the emergency department. A total of 1,482,076 admissions were analyzed by age, gender, month of admission, common diagnoses, referred outpatient clinics, and specific criteria applied during the pandemic period.Results: During the study period, 1,482,076 patients presented to the emergency department, of whom 49.7% were women. Patients aged 18 years and younger represented the largest group (23.1%). The highest annual admission rate occurred in 2021 (25.9%), most commonly for respiratory diseases. During the pandemic, 49.9% of applicants were female, 12.8% were aged 42–49, and the leading diagnosis was “Observation for Suspected Disease or Condition.”Conclusion: Determining the demographic and clinical profile of emergency department patients, largely composed of young and middle-aged groups, is essential for effective emergency health service planning.
Amaç: Acil Servisler, sağlık sistemleri içerisinde anında müdahale gerektiren, 24 saat hizmet sorumluluğu olan, kritik hastaların ve yaralıların ilk başvurduğu birimlerdir. Bu araştırmada, devlet hastanesi acil servisi başvuran hastaların özelliklerinin değerlendirilmesi amaçlanmıştır. Gereç ve Yöntem: Kapadokya Bölgesinde bir devlet hastanesi Ocak 2017-Aralık 2021 tarihleri arasında acil servise başvuran hastaların retrospektif olarak araştırma tasarlanmıştır. Acil servise başvuran tüm hastalar araştırmaya dahil edilmişitr. Bulgular: Araştırmada acil servise toplam 1.482.076 hasta başvurmuş, başvuranların % 49.7’sini kadınlar oluşturmuştur. Acil servise en yüksek başvuru oranının %23.1 ile 18 yaş ve altı hastalar ait olduğu, en çok başvuru %25.9 oranında 2021 yılında, en sık solunum sistemi hastalıkları nedeniyle başvurmuştur. Pandemi döneminde ise başvuranların % 49.9’u kadın, %12.8 oranında 42-49 yaş aralığında, en sık Şüpheli Hastalık veya Durum İçin Gözlem” tanısı ile başvurmuştur. Sonuç: Acil servise başvuranların genç orta yaşta hastaların oluşturduğu, başvuran hasta profilini belirlenmesi acil sağlık hizmet planlanması açısından önemlidir.
