<p>That a great many Quranic verses contain allusive meanings alongside their outward meanings, is well known to observers. From the very beginning, scholars have aspired to be preoccupied with such an endeavour in view of better understanding the Divine Will. In one of these such verses it is declared: So, flee to (refuge in) God. (Dhariyat 51:50) Notwithstanding Quranic exegetes keeping to the verses general meaning in their commentary, Sufis have understood and expounded this verse - noteworthy in terms of expressing the human beings need for God - in light of their own worldview and understanding. To such a degree was this realised that the concept firar entered the Sufi lexicon and literature as a distinct topic for consideration, and came to be accepted as a spiritual station on the path towards God. In this article, the views in relation to this verse will be imparted and its contribution to Islamic spirituality articulated. Key Words: Firar, Fleeing, Allusory meaning, Sufi, el-Harawi</p></trans-abstract>
