                                                                                                                        <abstract><p>Bir ya da birkaç canlıorganizma tarafından belirli amaçlara yönelik olarak gerçekleştirilendavranışlar olarak tanımlanabilen eylem kavramı, sosyoloji, psikoloji, felsefevs. disiplinlerde farklı boyutlarının ele alınarak açıklanan bir konudur.Eylemin kaynağının ne olduğu, nasıl meydana geldiği, bir organizmanın meydanagetirdiği bir eylemin etki alanının o organizma ile sınırlı olup olmadığı,eylem bağlamında oganizma-çevre, zihin-beden, birey-toplum ilişkisinin nasılaçıklanabileceği sorularına bu çerçevede cevap aranır. Klasik Amerikanpragmatistlerinden George Herbert Mead, zihin-beden, birey-toplum,organizma-doğa ayrımı gibi düalist yaklaşımların oluşturduğu problemlere çözümbulmak için bütüncül bakış açısının kaçınılmaz olduğunu savunur. O, hem eylemdebulunan bireyin bütünlüğünü hem de bireyin toplumla ve doğa ile olanbütünlüğünü ortaya koyacak bir eylem kuramı önerir. Bu çerçevede Mead, eylemiinsan altı canlı varlıklar söz konusu olduğunda dürtü ve tamamlanma olmak üzereiki; insani varlıklar söz konusu olduğunda ise dürtü, algı, düzenleme vetamamlanma olmak üzere dört aşamayı içerecek şekilde ortaya koyar.</p></abstract>
