Abstract

Abstract

This study aimed to determine the level of knowledge and attitudes of nurses towards preventing pressure injury. The study design is descriptive. The study was conducted in a city hospital with 170 nurses between July and September 2024. Data were collected using the “Nurse Descriptive Information Form", “Pressure Ulcer Knowledge Assessment Tool”, and “Attitude Towards Pressure Ulcer Prevention Instrument”. The total mean score of the nurses on the Pressure Ulcer Knowledge Assessment Tool is 7.61±3.04, and the total mean score of the Attitude Towards Pressure Ulcer Prevention Instrument is 40.44±4.80. The level of knowledge of nurses on pressure injury is higher in those aged 30-39, those with undergraduate and graduate degrees, those working in intensive care, those who have received training on pressure injury, those who frequently encounter pressure injury, and those who think that pressure injuries can be prevented (p<0.05). A moderately positive and significant relationship was found between the two scales (r = 0.327, p<0.05). It was determined that the knowledge level of nurses about pressure injury was insufficient, and their attitudes were positive.
