This study aims to examine why international students prefer to study in Türkiye, the difficulties they encounter, and their views on education and social life in general. This study is designed based on the general survey model. The target population of the study consists of international students living in Türkiye. However, sampling was conducted since reaching the entire target population is difficult. 403 international students have participated in the study. Of the international students who participated in the study, 93.5% are Muslims, 5.2% are Christians, and 1.2% have other religious beliefs. 43.9% of international students reside in KYK dormitories, 28,5% in apartment flats, 11.9% in studio flats, and 11.7% in private dormitories. 70.5% are undergraduates, 14.6% are associate degree students, 10.9% are graduate students and 4.0% are doctoral students. In the ranking of the reasons for choosing Türkiye for education, "Türkiye being a Muslim country" takes the first place with a rate of 80.4%. The second place is "Türkiye being a developed country," with a 60.5% rate, and the third place is "having high education standards" with a rate of 57.3%. The list of difficulties international students encounter consists of "having problems with language and having difficulty getting used to the food culture" with a rate of 27.8%, and "the cost of health insurance and accommodation being too high" with a rate of 22.8%. In the ranking of their views on Türkiye and the education process in general, the opinion of "I can practise my religion comfortably in Türkiye" ranks first with a rate of 53.6%. The opinion of "I have good relations with the friends I study with" ranks second with a rate of 46.7%, and the opinion of "I believe we are being excluded due to our differences" is in last place with a rate of 11.4%.
Bu araştırmanın amacı, Türkiye’de eğitim gören uluslararası öğrencilerin Türkiye’yi tercih etme nedenleri, karşılaştıkları güçlükler ve genel olarak eğitim ve sosyal yaşama ilişkin görüşlerinin incelenmesidir. Araştırma, uluslararası öğrencilerin tercih nedenleri ile deneyimledikleri güçlükleri birlikte analiz etmesi bakımından özgün bir nitelik taşımaktadır. Araştırma genel tarama modelini esas alarak tasarlanmıştır. Araştırmanın evreni Türkiye’de yaşayan uluslararası öğrencilerden oluşmaktadır. Ancak, evrenin tamamına ulaşmanın güç olması nedeniyle örnekleme yapılmıştır. Araştırmaya 403 uluslararası öğrenci katılım sağlamıştır. Araştırmaya katılan uluslararası öğrencilerin %93.5’i Müslüman, %5.2’si Hristiyan ve %1.2’si ise diğer dini inanca mensuptur. Uluslararası öğrencilerin % 43,9’u KYK yurtlarında, % 28,5’i apartman dairesinde; % 11,9’u aparatlarda ve % 11,7’si ise özel yurtlarda ikamet etmekte; % 70,5’si lisans, % 14,6’sı ön lisans, % 10,9’u yüksek lisans ve % % 4,0’ü ise doktora öğrencisi olarak öğrenim görmektedir. Eğitim için Türkiye’yi tercih etme nedenleri sıralamasında ilk sırada % 80,4 oran ile “Müslüman bir ülke olması”, ikinci sırada 60,5 oran ile “Gelişmiş bir ülke olması”, üçüncü sırada % 57,3 oran ile “Eğitim standartlarının yüksek olması olarak yer almaktadır. Karşılaştıkları güçlükler sıralamasında ilk sırada % 27,8 oran ile “Dil sorunu yaşama ve yemek kültürüne alışırken zorluk çekme”, % 22,8 oran ile “Sağlık sigortası maliyetinin çok yüksek olması ve kalacak yer maliyetlerinin çok yüksek olması” yer almaktadır. Genel olarak Türkiye ve eğitim sürecine ilişkin görüşleri sıralamasında “Türkiye’de dinimi rahatça yaşarım” görüşü % 53,6 oran ile ilk sırada, “Birlikte eğitim gördüğüm arkadaşlarımızla iyi ilişkiler içindeyim” görüşü % 46,7 oran ile ikinci sırada ve son sırada ise “Farklılıklarımız sebebiyle dışlandığımızı düşünüyorum” görüşü % 11,4 oran ile yer almaktadır.
