<p>Aim:Rapid population growth, urbanization, and the environmental impacts of climate change have increased the need for sustainable food production and consumption practices. Sustainable nutrition aims to protect natural resources, reduce environmental pressures, and support long-term public health. Its core principles include increasing plant-based food consumption, decreasing red meat intake, prioritizing seasonal and locally sourced foods, and reducing food waste. This study aims to examine how adults’ knowledge and attitudes toward sustainable nutrition influence their food choices and to identify key factors associated with sustainability-oriented dietary behaviors.Materials and Methods:This quantitative study was conducted using a relational survey design. Data were collected online from 276 adults aged 18 years and older. Participants completed the Sustainable Nutrition Knowledge and Attitude Questionnaire and the Food Choice Test. The data were analyzed using SPSS 25. Descriptive statistics, independent samples t-tests, ANOVA, and multiple regression analyses were conducted to assess differences between demographic groups and to evaluate the predictive relationships among variables. Results:Among the participants, 68.1% were female and 31.9% were male, with a mean age of 32.82 years. Female participants scored significantly higher than males on the “Knowledge of Sustainable Diet Description Statements” (t(274) = -4.12, p = 0.01). A significant difference across age groups was found only for sustainability knowledge. Higher education levels were associated with increased knowledge and more positive attitudes toward sustainable nutrition (p &amp;lt; 0.05). Regression analysis showed that sustainability knowledge negatively predicted price perception (β = −0.123, t = −2.015, p = 0.45), indicating that individuals with greater knowledge place less emphasis on price when making food choices. Conclusion:The findings indicate that women and individuals with higher educational attainment demonstrate stronger sustainability-related knowledge and attitudes. However, the influence of these characteristics on actual food choices appears limited, with a notable effect only on price perception. These results emphasize the need for educational programs and policy strategies designed to enhance public awareness and promote sustainable dietary behaviors.</p></trans-abstract>
