Abstract

Sinema ve sosyoloji disiplinleri arasında köprü kuran Filmlerle Sosyoloji adlı kitap, Bülent Diken ve Carsten Bagge Laustsen adlı yazarlar tarafından 2007 yılında yayınlanmıştır. Sinemayı toplumsal teorinin özgün bir alanı olarak gören yazarlar, bu kitapta modern sosyolojinin güncel yaklaşımlarını film analizleri üzerinden sorgulayarak yeni okuma alanları açmaktadır. Kitap çalışması 8 bölümden oluşmaktadır. Kitap içerisinde; Hamam (1997), Sineklerin Tanrısı (1963), Tanrı Kent (2002), Dövüş Kulübü (1999), Brazil (1985) ve Hayat Güzeldir (1997) isimli 6 adet filmin çözümlemesi, eserin teorik çerçevesini ve temel savını güçlendirmek amacıyla yer almaktadır. Dolayısıyla bu eser, farklı araştırma disiplinlerini sosyolojik çözümleme ve film estetiği ile birlikte sorgularken, sinemanın toplumsal gerçeklikle kurduğu karmaşık ilişkiye de yeni okuma alanları kazandırdığı için özgün bir kitaptır.

Book Review: Sociology Through the Projector

Abstract

The book Sociology Through the Projector, which bridges the disciplines of cinema and sociology, was published in 2007 by authors Bülent Diken and Carsten Bagge Laustsen. Viewing cinema as a unique field of social theory, the authors question contemporary approaches in modern sociology through film analysis, opening up new areas of interpretation. The book consists of eight chapters. It includes analyses of six films: Hamam (1997), Lord of the Flies (1963), City of God (2002), Fight Club (1999), Brazil (1985), and Life Is Beautiful (1997). Therefore, this work is unique in that it questions different research disciplines through sociological analysis and film aesthetics, while also providing new perspectives on the complex relationship between cinema and social reality.
