Öz

Yükseköğretimde öğrenci bağlılık düzeylerinin belirlenmesi üniversitelerin iyileştirilmesi için önemsenmektedir. Ulusal ve uluslararası alanyazında üniversite öğrencilerinin bağlılıklarını ölçmek için çeşitli ölçeklere rastlanmaktadır. Ancak bu ölçeklerin kullanışlılık ve Türk kültürü açısından uygun olmaması öğrencilerin üniversiteye karşı bağlılığını ölçmek için geçerli ve güvenilir bir ölçme aracına ihtiyaç duyulduğunu göstermektedir. Bu doğrultuda bu araştırmada öğrencilerin devam ettikleri üniversiteye karşı görüşlerini belirlemek için “Yükseköğretimde Öğrenci Bağlılığı Ölçeğini” geliştirmek ve bu ölçeğin geçerlik ve güvenirlik çalışmasını yapmak amaçlanmaktadır. Araştırmanın çalışma grubu 2017-2018 akademik yılında Ankara’da bir kamu üniversitesinin çeşitli fakültelerinde eğitimine devam eden ve uygun örnekleme yöntemiyle seçilen 500 öğrenciden oluşmaktadır. Ölçeğin faktör yapısı öncelikle açımlayıcı faktör analizi (AFA) ile incelenmiştir. AFA sonuçlarına göre tek boyutlu 14 maddelik bu ölçek toplam varyansın %54.88’ini açıklamaktadır. Ölçeğin güvenirliğini test etmek için madde toplam korelasyonları (0,83-0,66>0,30) ve Cronbach Alpha güvenirlik katsayısı (0,93) hesaplanmıştır. Bu yapının model uyumunu test etmek için doğrulayıcı faktör analizi (DFA) de yapılmıştır. DFA model uyum indeks değerleri de (χ2/sd=10,6, RMSEA=0,07, SRMR=0,03, CFI=0,94, TLI=0,93) ölçeğin iyi uyuma sahip olduğunu göstermektedir. Araştırmadan elde edilen bulgular doğrultusunda, Yükseköğretimde Öğrenci Bağlılığı Ölçeği’nin lisans öğrencilerinin üniversitelerine karşı bağlılık düzeylerini belirlemek için kullanılabilecek güvenirliği ve geçerliği olan bir ölçme aracı olduğunu söylemek mümkündür. Araştırmacıların bu ölçekle yürüteceği çalışmaların yükseköğretimde kalite, öz-değerlendirme ve stratejik planlama çalışmalarına katkı sunacağı düşünülmektedir.

Student Commitment to Higher Education Scale: The Study of Validity and Reliability

Öz

Determining students’ commitment to higher education is considered important for the improvement of the universities. In the literature, there are various scales for measuring the students’ commitment. However, the fact that these scales are not suitable for Turkish culture has indicated that a valid, and reliable scale is needed to measure the students' commitment to the university. Accordingly, this study aims to develop “Student Commitment to Higher Education Scale” and to conduct its validity, and reliability study in order to determine the views of the students towards the universities they attend. The study group consists of 500 undergraduate students studying at a state university in Ankara in the 2017-2018 academic year. The convenience sampling method was used to determine the study group. The factor structure of this scale was analysed with exploratory factor analysis (EFA). According to EFA results, this one-dimension-14-item scale explains 54.88% of the total variance. To test the reliability of the scale, item-total correlations (0.83-0.66>0.30), and Cronbach Alpha reliability coefficient (0.93) were calculated. Confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) was conducted to test the model fit of this structure. CFA model fit indices (χ2/df=10.6, RMSEA=0.07, SRMR=0.03, CFI=0.94, TLI=0.93) have indicated that the scale has a good-fit. In line with these findings, it can be said that Student Commitment to Higher Education Scale is a reliable, and valid measurement tool that can be used to determine the undergraduate students’ commitment to their universities. It is thought that the studies carried out by researchers with this scale will contribute to the quality, self-evaluation, and strategic planning studies in the higher education.
