Pink-White Aesthetic Smile Design with Minimally Invasive Methods: Case Report
Abstract
The aim of this case report is to present a minimally
invasive pink–white aesthetic smile rehabilitation performed
with diode laser–assisted gingivectomy–gingivoplasty and
direct composite veneer restorations in a young adult patient
presenting with a gummy smile and multiple anterior diastemas.
A 27-year-old female patient applied to our clinic with the complaint
of an unaesthetic smile due to
excessive gingival display and diastemas between the maxillary
anterior teeth. Clinical examination revealed a gummy smile and
multiple diastemas without periodontal pathology. A minimally
invasive treatment plan was established, including diode laser
gingivectomy–gingivoplasty for teeth 14–24, followed by direct
composite veneer restorations to enhance white aesthetics.
Gingival recontouring was performed using a diode laser under
local anesthesia. After a 2-week healing period, complete
soft tissue recovery was observed. After choosing the shade,
teeth were isolated using a rubber dam, no preparations were
performed. Prime&BondUniversal, adhesive (Dentsply Sirona)
and a universal resin composite (Ceram.xSphereTECOne,
Dentsply Sirona) were applied for restorative procedures and
polymerized using an LED device for 20s. Subsequently, the
macro and micro surface morphologies on the buccal surfaces
were created and any occlusal interferences were checked.
Finishing and polishing procedures were completed and the
patient was motivated to maintain dental hygiene and was
told about the need for follow-up appointments. 18-month
follow-up evaluation demonstrated satisfactory esthetic
outcomes with healthy gingival contours. Minimally invasive approaches combining diode
laser soft tissue management with adhesive composite
restorations provide predictable, tissue-friendly, and esthetically
pleasing outcomes. Considering pink and white esthetics
together is essential for achieving a harmonious and natural
smile design.
