The Hittite text KBo 12.38 is an extremely interesting one: in addition to dating to a period generally lacking in historical news, such as that of the last reigning sovereign of Ḫattuša, it contains the only existing testimony of the use of naval forces by the Hittite empire1. The cuneiform text also deals with a particular sanctuary, the “Everlasting Peak” na4ḫekur SAG.UŠ , whose location and role have been debated at length2.
