In this study substituted heteroaromatic amines were synthesized by a cyclisation reaction achieved by means a special base catalysed cyclisation reaction, using a-hydroxy ketone and active methylene compounds. The effect of substituent in both the product and the Schiff’s base obtained by the condensation of the product with salicylaldehyde or j3-hydroxy-a naphthaldehyde was investigated by determining their UV, IR, HNMR characteristics and PKa values.
