The mechanİcal, physical and electrical properties in addition to the chemical constitution have been measured for some samples of the most common roeks; granite and limestone. Besi- des, factor analysis was applİed giving rise to four specific factors controlling the mechanİcal behaviors of each rock type. In granite; the two most common factors measure the degree of rock compactness in terms of density, porosity and chemical constitution (Fe, Ca, K and Cr) and correlate the relation between mechanİcal, electrical and chemical constitution. Also, the limestone rock exhibits two most common factors. The first one measures the electrical pro- perties in terms of porosity and other chemical elements such as: Ti and K, while the second factor measures the degree of silicification in terms of both Ca and Si.
